After school Snacks and Forgotten Treats

I liked to make up little plastic bags with a mixture of cereal, m&ms, miniture marshmallows and have them ready for an after school snack. You can add raisens, popcorn, nuts or pretzels also.

Some days I would cut up slices of apples, banana , grapes etc. Be sure to wash your fruit.

Crackers and cheese, or crackers with peanut butter are a good snack.

Cinnamon toast
is always an easy favorite too just toast your bread, spread a little butter on it and sprinkle the top with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

Some Left Overs can make a great after school snack, just be sure its in a microwavable container, and you teach your child how to use the microwave safely, and be sure they know how to handle anything they take out of it, so they don’t get burned by the hot steam which may be in a container.

Here is a favorite of my children from when they were young.

Buy 1 box of graham crackers any brand. I liked to buy a couple different frosting, or you can make a butter frosting of your own and keep it in a good sealed container, if it thickens just add a little milk and stir it, it will soften again. Spread the frosting on the graham crackers and make into sandwiches. You can also use a mixture of peanut butter and jelly, just peanut butter, or just jelly.

To make a butter frosting, use 2 cups powered sugar, 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, add milk by the tsp. while stirring until it gets smooth and creamy. You can add flavoring to this if you like, like a
couple Tbsp. cocoa, orange juice,( If you use orange juice, use it in the place of the milk.)
